These will be placed in the church foyer over the next couple of weeks – please check your diaries and fill in the rosters where you are able.

7 March is “Children’s Day”

This day we celebrate the preciousness and dignity of each child.  There is an urgent need to pray for the children of the world including our own NZ children.  Please take one of the prayer cards distributed tonight and help with the vision that many people through prayer will cry out to God on behalf of all children.  The card comes with the support of our NZ Bishops.

“Lord Jesus, we know you love children.  You gathered them, embraced and blessed them.  We pray that all children feel your comforting love.  We pray for all parents in loving, supporting and protecting their children.
Grant us more compassionate hearts so that we become vividly aware of the needs of all your children, born and unborn, who suffer abuse, disease and poverty.
May we show them your love and hope.
Amen”

Adopt-a-Cell

The Christian answer to the ‘three strikes’ policy.

As Christians, who are familiar with Jesus’ words, “I was in prison and you visited me” (Matt 25), we have three strikes of our own with which to combat the ever increasing numbers of people being imprisoned in our country:

  1. adopt a specific prison cell;
  2. believe;
  3. pray.

Join the campaign to reform the imprisoned through the power of Jesus. For more information, contact Kilian de Lacy, Senior Catholic Prison Chaplain. By mail: P O Box 9, Wellington 6140.

St Vincent de Paul – Fresh Veges for Foodbank

In response to the Bishop’s call and an increase in families turning to the Hamilton Foodbank in times of recession, St Vincent de Paul has initiated a community vegetable garden on a half-acre plot at Horsham Downs so that fresh veges will be available for the Food bank and the regular Friday meal for those in need.

A local parishioner has provided the land for a $1 annual rental and the Catholic Care Foundation has donated $2,000 to provide seedlings and fertiliser.  A special works group has been set up to manage and support the project this includes John Smulders, president of the Society and our own parishioner, Tame Broughton.  For more on this please see the notice board – keep up the good work!

Divine Mercy
Jesus, I trust in You!

“Through the chaplet you will obtain everything, if what you ask for is compatible to my will.
